Conditions
How Can We Help?

I have good news! My patient continues to do the exercises aimed at correcting her dysfunctions, and finally has improved to the point where her chronic back pain is less severe, the spasms are less frequent, and we have begun to taper some of the meds. I think this improvement will continue.
What I want to tell you here is that the medical establishment, of which I am a 58 year member, has continued to fail chronic pain patients. They do perfunctorily talk about exercise, but don’t emphasize it, don’t give any directions about it, and may or may not refer them to PT and their generic exercises. For most patients the medical establishment prescribes targeted epidural injections, facet injection, a spinal cord stimulator, and radio frequency ablation to name a few procedures. In my patient’s case, only when all of these things failed did I give the necessary encouragement to really persist with the exercises no matter what. That is, I did it backwards. The exercises should have been given the necessary emphasis before all the other stuff. Imagine how much money the government and the insurance industry would save if they covered things such as the Egoscue Method.
