WHAT CAUSES Injury?

Our musculoskeletal system absorbs huge amounts of force as we move. Our body is designed to spread that force over a balanced system of bones, muscles, and supporting tissues (ligaments, tendons, etc.).

Without the balance of all the joint’s supporting structures working in unison, our body is forced to concentrate the load from movement on increasingly vulnerable and overworked areas of the musculoskeletal system. This increased burden makes us more susceptible to sudden injury and the cumulative effects of unnecessary wear and tear on our joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons overtime.

When done properly and in the right sequence, Egoscue exercises eliminate abnormal stress and strain on your musculoskeletal system and reducing your risk of injury.

Don’t Be A Sideline Statistic

Most pain and injury results from compromised movement, not sudden trauma.
That means the majority of injuries can be prevented.

RUNNING

70%

70% of recreational and competitive distance runners sustain a preventable, overuse running injury during any given one-year period.

GOLF

80%

Over 80% of reported golf injuries are preventable.

TENNIS

2/3

About 2/3 of all injuries are preventable overuse injuries.

COMPETITIVE SPORTS

70%

50% of adolescent sports injuries and 30% of injuries reported by D1 collegiate athletes are preventable overuse injuries.

How Egoscue Prevents Inury

Form matters. For every move you make.

  • Prevents unnecessary wear and tear on your muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints
  • Decreases susceptibility to sudden injury (MSK system is more resilient)
  • Speeds recovery
  • Prevents disability and long-term loss of mobility
  • Improves happiness (more movement = better mood)

FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION

We have all heard the importance of good form during movement. But good form is only possible if we have the musculoskeletal function to support it.

It doesn’t matter how aware or focused you are about moving with good form. If your muscle function can’t meet the demand placed on it, your form won’t improve.

If you improve your function, your form will follow.

Feel Better.

Movement is a catalyst for a happier, healthier life. At every stage of life and every skill level, our ability to move without pain, limitation, or restriction is central to our physical and mental health. If you want to enjoy a fulfilling, active life, proper musculoskeletal function is essential.

Move Better.

If poor form causes our knee to hurt, we start running less. We bike less. Eventually we might even start walking less. With each movement we give up, the variety of activities we are able to enjoy shrinks.

Live Better.

Proper musculoskeletal function prevents injuries and reoccurring pain. Whether that means less time on the sideline as an athlete or continuing to walk, run, and jump long into our retirement years, good form not only keeps us moving. It’s essential to keeping us happy and healthy.
