Wrist & Elbow Pain Often Starts Elsewhere: Here’s Where to Look

Your Wrist Pain Might Be Coming From Your Hips

So Many Symptoms, So Little Time

Clients often spend hours searching for the right stretch, brace, or treatment to ease wrist or elbow pain. But if you’ve ever experienced that dull ache or sharp twinge that makes even simple tasks uncomfortable, you know how it can take over your day.

Most people don’t realize that wrist and elbow pain rarely starts in the wrist or elbow itself. These joints are often the messengers, not the source. When your shoulders, upper back, or even hips are out of alignment, your arms begin to compensate — creating stress, tension, and eventually pain.

At Egoscue, we focus on restoring your body’s natural alignment so your joints can move the way they were designed to. By addressing the chain reaction throughout your posture, we relieve pressure at the source — giving your wrists and elbows the break they deserve

My Story: From Wrist Pain to Whole-Body Awareness

I know that dull ache and sharp twinge all too well — the kind that makes even simple tasks uncomfortable. For me, it started when my boys were little. I loved holding them, but as they grew and gained weight, I began to notice how much harder it was to lift and carry them without discomfort.

Like many, I tried to ignore the pain at first. I thought it was just part of being a mom, part of getting through the day. But the pain didn’t just stay in my wrists or elbows — it started creeping up into my forearms, shoulders, and neck. It became impossible to ignore. That’s when I realized the discomfort was actually trying to tell me something important about how my body was moving.

From Wrist Aches to Shoulder and Neck Pain

Initially, it was just a dull ache when I lifted or held my kids. But over time, the discomfort intensified, sometimes stabbing or radiating. I noticed my posture shifting without me even realizing it — shoulders hunching forward, elbows locked, and tension building everywhere else. I began to see that my body was compensating for something deeper, and that the pain was a chain reaction rather than an isolated issue.

The Hidden Cause: Pelvic Position

I noticed how I’d tuck my pelvis, shift my hips awkwardly, and brace through my arms just to hold my boys. Each adjustment created tension that traveled upward, stressing my wrists, elbows, shoulders, and neck. It was a domino effect — the real source of the problem wasn’t my arms at all, it was the misalignment through my core.

Once I began correcting my pelvic position and restoring alignment with Egoscue exercises, everything began to change. My wrists and elbows released. Movements became easier, my wrists and elbows felt lighter, my shoulders relaxed, and I could lift my boys without anticipating discomfort.

Egoscue taught me that pain is often a signal, not a sentence. By addressing the root cause and realigning my body, I learned to Feel Better. Move Better. Live Better. The exercises are simple, practical, and accessible — and the results go far beyond just wrist and elbow relief. Pain became a guide rather than a barrier, and my everyday movement became effortless again.
