The Egoscue method was by and far the most effect body work I have practiced. I tried traditional physical therapy as well as yoga and acupuncture for my upper back/neck pain following a car accident but Egoscue was the only one that has really worked to significantly decrease the pain and stiffness. Zac is an amazing coach, very knowledgeable and easy going. My parents discovered Egoscue 20 years ago and now I am a second generation success story! Zac is a great practitioner of an amazingly simple and effective method. I train and exercise 6 days a week at high volume and high intensity, and Egoscue got me and continues to keep me pain free. I liked that every aspect of my treatment was personalized to my needs, my symptoms, and my time parameters. Long term lower back pain with a suspected pinched nerve, had virtually shut me down! The MRI of my lower back was not very positive! My son, who is a certified Crossfit instructor, purchased my intro to the Egoscue clinic. I have put my crutches aside for the last several months and have been walking, hiking and waterskiing. I am now off of any pain medication and am sleeping well! Each time I come away from Zac with exercises and a plan. They seem so simple and low impact. Zac seems to have good knowledge of interaction of muscles and skeletal structure. He's great at explaining how to perform the exercises. He'll do the exercises with you and tell you what you should be feeling. I don't leave his office with any questions about how to perform the exercises. He's got a great positive attitude. We’re able to walk longer distances with no pain and navigate stairs with more ease. We walk almost everywhere, so every day is getting easier. We notice our balance is better; we seem to walk straighter and feel lighter. That means we can go longer distances and enjoy it more. Marilyn’s upper arm pain is now totally gone and she is back with her group wielding needles and yarn. We love to travel and walk in new cities, towns and villages as well as countrysides. Now with the ability to expand our walking distances and feel easier and more comfortable these outings seem all the more pleasurable.
Pain from my left hip was at an unbearable point and walking was a challenge. I knew the arthritis in my left hip was bone to bone and my Dr. was referring me to physical therapy or hip replacement surgery. I started to read the Chronic Pain book that a client had referred to me 5 years ago when the pain was in my right foot, and looked up the clinic online. After a month of custom exercises, I’ve been able to get back to walking. We just came back from a short vacation in Las Vegas and we walked all over those big hotels. Since 2013, I’ve had plantar fasciitis on my right foot. I coped by doing foot stretches, using foot insoles and buying the right shoes with a good arch support. In August 2015, I started experiencing sharp pain and limited mobility with my right wrist. I couldn’t write well with a pen, use a needle and thread to mend a simple hem, prepare food—doctors told me I had a case of a "shoulder subluxation". I was directed to do physical therapy. However, I felt I was not thriving/progressing much anymore. Thankfully, there is an Egoscue clinic in Seattle. Zac listens well, which explains the effectiveness of the exercises. I appreciate his attention to detail, clarity, patience & availability, especially in answering my questions. My right wrist can now finally rotate 360 degrees. I have recovered most of my right hand's fine motor skills - I can finally write legibly, sew with a needle and thread, throw a frisbee and hit a shuttlecock using a badminton racket. My right shoulder has more flexibility and strength. Reaching up, sideways and back has improved significantly. While standing or walking, my right foot is now more "automatically" straight. I've often forgotten about my problem with plantar fasciitis.
I’ve had back pain for a number of years and have been under medical care for it with no positive results. I had Scoliosis in the thoracic and lumbar sections of my spine and the treatment for it, due to my age, was palliative pain control through the use of pain pills. I don't know how to express my joy, my thanks, my gratitude for Egoscue. Every since my first visit I have seen improvements. I love to bowl and recently I bowled three days in a row with minimum pain. One of my main goals was to be able to hold my great granddaughter. I can do that now and more. I can dance with her while standing. I can clean and cook now whereas before I spent most of my time in bed with the heating pad. Now the heating pad has been put up, no more braces, and much less pain medication. I am going to see Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood next Sunday. Before I started going to Egoscue, I would never have planned this outing. Egoscue works; give it a try.
I had had several health challenges throughout my life. Thru the years I have suffered several falls that have resulted in fractures and broken bones. As a result of one of my injuries, I have a metal rod in my lower leg and ankle which causes me pain. My mobility, balance, and posture have taken their toll on my frame. I found out about the Egoscue clinic right next to us and called and made an appointment. I was treated in a caring and attentive manner. After week 4 we could really start seeing improvement in my posture and gait. I am walking better and have seen lots of improvements throughout my body. The experience of having a therapist working with me one-on-one to show me the correct posture and method of doing the exercises properly would be hard to get from the book! I would encourage any who are thinking of trying the Egoscue method to just do it. I have a friend who was going to have knee surgery that went through the program at Egoscue. She has not needed to have the surgery and now she does the set of exercises twice a day and sings the praises of Egoscue!
I've been struggling with plantar fasciitis for two years and seen several medical providers. The Egoscue website offered specific stretches associated for plantar fasciitis and described some of the contributing conditions around body alignment and posture that described me perfectly so I wanted to come in to learn more. I'm one month into a two-month program and am definitely seeing changes and improvement in my plantar fasciitis and overall posture (back, hips and feet).
